NOW president to speak March 4

Kim Gandy, president of the National Organization of Women, will speak on “Feminism in a Time of War,” at 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 4, in Multipurpose Room C of the Trabant University Center.

Gandy, a long-time activist who has served on NOW at the local, state or national level every year since 1973, was elected president on NOW’s 35th anniversary on June 30, 2001, after serving as executive vice president since 1991 and secretary-treasurer from 1987 to 1991.

A graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics, Gandy went on to receive her law degree from Loyola University School of Law, using her skills as organizer and attorney to advance issues of importance to women.

As president, Gandy directs the organization’s fundraising programs and supervises chapter development services and leadership training for NOW’s more than 500 state and local chapters.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by SAGE, Women’s Studies Program, Office of Women’s Affairs and Delaware NOW.

For more information, contact Marie Laberge at 831-6748.
