Blue Hen tennis team competes in Philadelphia
 

12:45 p.m., Oct. 28, 2002--University of Delaware men's tennis sophomore John Tully won one singles match and teamed with sophomore Robert Wirth for one doubles win at the Omni/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals held Oct. 25-28 at the University of Pennsylvania's Levy Tennis Complex.

Tully defeated Pat Hofer of Marist 6-3, 6-3 in the Friday's first round before falling to No. 9 seed Trevor Smith of Princeton by a 6-2, 7-5 score on Saturday in the second round. Tully (6-6 in singles) then lost to Connecticut's Mike Furman by a 6-4, 6-3 score in the singles consolation on Saturday.

In doubles action, Tully teamed with Wirth to post an 8-1 first-round win over Fairfield University's tandem of Sean Tompkins and Colin Torrence. Tully and Wirth were then eliminated in the second round with an 8-1 loss to No. 2 seed Andrea Laulund and Stephane Rod of Virginia Tech. Tully and Wirth fell to 4-2 on the season with the loss.

The tournament was the final action of the fall season for the Blue Hen men's tennis team.
