Library Avenue to close beginning June 10

June 5, 2002--University of Delaware employees and students who commute from south of Newark are advised that a portion of Library Avenue (Route 72) will be closed for construction from Monday, June 10, until mid-August.

The roadway will be closed completely between Old South Chapel Street and Delaware Avenue, according to the Delaware Department of Transportation, which reminds motorists that detours will be in effect. Motorists are advised to use Marrows Road.

Also during this time, Library Avenue between Route 273 and Delaware Avenue will be open to just one lane of traffic in each direction.

The contractor will remove and upgrade existing pavement, guardrails, sidewalk and median islands along Library Avenue.

The Delaware Department of Transportation has designated the Library Avenue work as a "full blitz" project, with the contractor provided incentives to finish the work as quickly as possible.
