Dec. 3, 2002—John W. Grundy, 82, who retired in 1982 after 35 years as a mechanical engineer in Facilities Management, died Nov. 27.

A native of Philadelphia, the Newark High School alumnus graduated from UD in 1954 and was a member of the Fightin’ Blue Hens football teams of that era and also operated the scoreboard during football games at Delaware Stadium for many years.

An Army veteran of World War II, Grundy was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #475 and DAV Post #5. He also was a member of the Newark Senior Center and the Newark Free Library.
A funeral service was held on Dec. 2. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Newark United Methodist Church, 69 East Main St., Newark, DE 19711-4645, or to the Newark Senior Center, 200 White Chapel Rd., Newark, DE 19713.
