1:25 p.m., Nov. 12, 2002--Fifteen skaters, representing the University of Delaware, came in fourth place or better at the South Atlantic regionals, Oct. 8-12, in York, Pa., and are now qualified to compete in the Eastern sectionals, Nov. 13-16, in Aston, Pa. Those who qualify in the sectionals compete in the nationals in January in Dallas.
The roster includes:
Senior skaters--Jennifer Don, Ashley Kabino, Shaun Rogers and Brad Griffies.
Junior skaters--Katherine Hadford, Anna Peng, Mark McLeod and Michael Solonoski.
Novice skaters--Kimberly Meissner, Christine Zukowski, Erika Smith, Kelly Settelen and Andrew Goldman (pairs) and Katie Copely and Duke Wensel (dance).
Members of the UD Junior National Team who participated in the South Atlantic regionals are qualified to compete in the junior nationals, Dec. 10-14, in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Competitors include:
Intermediate skaters--Nicole Tahtouh, Alexandra Gengler, Michelle Pennington and Stephen Quinn (pairs), Michelle Pennington and Zachary Varraux (dance) and Lindsay Cohen and Evan Roberts (dance).
Juvenile skaters--Lindsey Hoeg, Meghan Byrne, Megan Marschall and Peter Briccotto (pairs), Lauren Wlazelek and Kyle Herring (dance) and Meredith Pipkin and Geoffrey Varraux (dance).
Others who train at UD but represent other regions who are qualified for the Eastern sectionals include senior skaters Krissa Miller and Melissa Parker and junior skaters Megan Williams-Stewart and Noah Abrahams.
Those qualifying for the junior nationals include intermediate skaters Marissa Marschall and Torsten Joerger (dance) and juveniles Megan Marschall and Ashley Foy and Dean Copely (dance).
