Fourth Annual Housing Fair

Food, fun and prizes were in evidence in the Multipurpose Room of the Trabant University Center on Feb. 19, where the fourth annual Housing Fair was held for students to come and learn about on-campus life and living.

Janette Humphrey, who helped plan the event, said this year there was more of a fair atmosphere. “We’re expecting more students than usual this year, and we will hit the goal,” she said.

Humphrey said this year’s fair included cotton candy, a popcorn machine, a magician, a palm reader and an artist drawing caricatures. The goal, she said, was to have students stay longer and have something to eat while filling out the housing application form. Two booths were set up where students could fill out applications while at the fair and have their questions answered by Housing Assignment Services. “We have housing staff to help them and tell them what they need to know,” she said. “If students can not sign up [at the fair], they can fill it out later by themselves.”

The Housing Fair had several prizes for students who participated. The grand prize this year is free housing and dining for the 2002-2003 academic year for one student. Second prizes include a free dining meal plan for two students for the fall, free on-campus housing for two students for the fall, free dining meal plan for the entire year for two students and free housing for the entire academic year for two students.

Humphrey said door prizes also were awarded.
