UD ice arena sets holiday hours

Skaters of all ages and abilities can enjoy public skating at the University of Delaware’s Fred Rust Ice Arena this holiday season, with special public skating hours scheduled from Friday, Dec. 21 to Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Special ticket giveaways to UD athletic events also are scheduled at the arena. The first 400 skaters at the 1-3 p.m. session on Wednesday, Dec. 26, will receive a free ticket to the UD vs. Rhode Island hockey game, scheduled at 4:30 p.m., Jan. 12 at the Rust Ice Arena.

On Thursday, Dec. 27, the first 400 skaters at the 1-3 p.m. session will receive a free ticket to the UD vs. Old Dominion women’s basketball game, scheduled at 7 p.m., Jan. 11 at The Bob Carpenter Center, Newark.

Expanded holiday hours scheduled for the rest of 2001 include Friday, Dec. 21, from 8-10 p.m.;

Saturday, Dec. 22, from 1-3 p.m., 4:30-6:30 p.m. and 8-10 p.m.;

Sunday, Dec. 23, from 1-3 p.m. and 8-10 p.m.;

Monday, Dec. 24, from 1-3 p.m.;

Wednesday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 28, from 1-3 p.m. and 8-10 p.m.;

Saturday, Dec. 29, from 10 a.m.-noon, 1-3 p.m. and 8-10 p.m.;

Sunday, Dec. 30, from 1-3 p.m. and 8-10 p.m.; and

Monday, Dec. 31, from 1-3 p.m.

Additionally, the arena will be open from 1-4 p.m. on New Year’s Day, Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Cost is $5 per person, with rental skates available for an additional $2 per pair. UD students are free with student ID card. A group rate of $4 per person is available for groups of 10 or more.
