Oct. 16, 2002--Flu shots are available for University employees and retirees who receive benefits, from 8 a.m.-noon and from 1-4 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, and Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Student Health Center at Laurel Hall.
The cost is $12 in cash or by check payable to the University of Delaware (no Wellness Dollars may be used). Employees should allow 20-30 minutes for their appointments since they will be asked to remain for a time after being given the vaccine.
Those who are over 50, women in the second or third trimester of pregnancy during flu season, health care workers, persons with chronic heart or lung disease, including asthma, and persons needing regular medical follow-up for other chronic illness, such as diabetes, are especially encouraged to get flu shots. Persons with Guillain-Barre syndrome or who are allergic to eggs, thimerosal, latex or formaldehyde should not get flu shots.
To register and make an appointment, visit the Wellness Center web site at [www.udel.edu/wellness] and select the flu shot link from the home page.
