Oct. 14, 2002--Brandi Franks scored just over four minutes into the second half to give Towson University a 2-1 victory over the University of Delaware field hockey team Sunday afternoon, Oct. 13, at Towson.
The loss was the first-ever for the Blue Hens (6-7, 0-2 CAA) against the Tigers, as they entered the contest with an all-time record of 24-0-1 against Towson.
Julie Lambi gave Towson an early 1-0 lead, scoring off a penalty corner midway through the first half, before junior Erin Shaklee scored the only goal for Delaware at the 26:40 mark of the first half, tying the score at 1-1. Sophomore Leah Geib picked up an assist on the play, her third of the season.
Junior goalkeeper Stephanie Judefind made five saves in the loss, while Towson goalkeeper Loren Wolf also made five.
UD will return to action Tuesday, Oct. 15, when it welcomes Lehigh University to town. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Fred Rullo Stadium
