Six UD field hockey players named to All-Region team
 

10:55 a.m., Nov. 20, 2002--Six players from the University of Delaware field hockey team have been named to the 2002 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-Region Teams.

Sophomore Erica LaBar, who led the Blue Hens in scoring with 31 points (11 goals and 9 assists), earned first-team honors. LaBar registered points in 16 of UD’s 20 games, and the team posted a 10-6 record when she recorded at least one point.

Five Blue Hens were selected to the second team, led by senior captains Kim Wagaman and Kelly Coyle. Wagaman finished third on the team in scoring with 15 points (three goals, nine assists) en route to earning Colonial Athletic Association first-team honors, while Coyle posted six points (one goal, four assists) and moved into a tie for eighth place on UD's all-time assist list with 17.

Joining them on the second team were sophomore Leah Geib, who finished tied for third on the team with five goals; junior Jessica Breault, who notched nine points in her last four games to give her 13 on the season (five goals, three assists); and fellow junior Jessi Balmer, who posted 15 points (seven goals, one assist).

The Blue Hens finished the 2002 season with a 10-10 record, including a 4-4 mark in CAA play. They were eliminated in the first round of the conference tournament by William & Mary, 4-1.
