'Amalgamation' fashion show May 11

"Amalgamation: A Fashion Show," sponsored by the student fashion organization Synergy, will be held from 7-10 p.m., Saturday, May 11, in the Multipurpose Rooms of Trabant University Center.

The show will showcase the work of University of Delaware students who are interested in apparel design. Cost is $3 in advance, $5 at the door. For details, call 453-0563.

Synergy: The Fashion Group includes students from a variety of majors, with most in the apparel design or fashion merchandising programs. To participate in the show, planning for which began last fall, students were required to submit an original design.

Designers have drawn inspiration from a wide variety of areas, according to Elise Cole, co-president of Synergy.

The seniors, for instance, have a special collection inspired by architecture. One designer was inspired by the Spanish Colonial style, one by bridges, one by a mosque and another by older buildings.

In addition to design, student volunteers are involved in many aspects of the show: set preparation, publicity, modeling, graphics and backstage organization.
