Kirkwood Highway work in Elsmere nears completion

July 1, 2002--The Delaware Department of Transportation announces that the Kirkwood Highway (Route 2) project in the Elsmere area has reached its final stage.

The final paving process will occur during the next several weeks. The section of Kirkwood Highway between New Road and Route 100 was to have been completed before the end of June, as was the portion area around the Route 141 interchange.

Work began July 1 on Kirkwood Highway between the Route 141 interchange and New Road. The road surface will be leveled, with final paving the week of July 8.

The final stages of work will cause significant delays for motorists over the next few weeks. Message boards have been erected to advise drivers of the work and conditions they can expect.
