UD distance learners connect to New Zealand

July 12, 2002--Graduate students used distance learning to hold a question-and-answer session with the U.S. Ambassador to New Zealand, Charles J. Swindells, July 9 in Pearson Hall on the Newark campus.

With the use of the distance learning technology, Swindells and the students were able to see and hear one another to discuss the importance of entrepreneurship in the global economy.

Simon Conlon, (shown at the podium), a student from New Zealand at UD, participates in the discussion with the ambassador, seen on the screen.
James O’Neil of UD’s Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship, said he organized the event because it was a great opportunity to contact a resource 2,000 miles away simply by using technology available at UD.
