10,000 turn out for Community Day

Oct. 1, 2002--From facing painting to miniature golf, from gymnastics to ballet, there was something for everyone at Newark Community Day, Sunday, Sept. 29, on The Green of UD’s Newark campus.

The annual event, which brings together residents, members of the University community and service providers, is a cooperative effort by the University, the Christiana School District and the city of Newark.

This year’s crowd of about 10,000 sampled a wide variety of food and informational promotions from some 200 vendors, while two stages and a demonstration area provided entertainment for all ages and musical tastes.
Sponsors for Newark Community Day include Iron Hill Brewery, Rodel, Fleet Credit Card Services, Daimler Chrysler and the Martin Dealerships.
