Sept.16, 2002--Pat Riley finished second to lead a pack of University of Delaware runners in the top 10 to pace the Blue Hens to a first-place finish at the Towson Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The women's team finished second behind host Towson University. Delaware’s Erin Gemmill captured the individual championship.

Riley, a senior, finished the 5-mile course in 27:04, nine seconds behind individual champion Nick Peters of Coppin State.

It was the ninth time in the last 10 meets, dating back to last season, that Riley has been Delaware's top runner.

The Blue Hens won the team title with 23 points. Coppin State was second with 66.

In the women's race, Gemmill won the race with a time of 19:30. However, Towson placed seven runners in the top 10 to take the team title with 21 points. Delaware finished with 41 points as Kate Klim and Sarah Bochet finished in the top 10.
