Center for Composite Materials requesting proposals from faculty

3:00 p.m., Nov. 11, 2002--UD’s Center for Composite Materials is requesting proposals from interested faculty for its Composite Materials Research (CMR) program focused on basic research in multifunctional composite materials for the U.S. Army.

Funded by the Army Research Laboratory in Aberdeen, Md., CMR is one of two ongoing Army Centers of Excellence that have been operating at UD’s Center for Composite Materials since 1986. CMR combines the best of the public and private sectors by encouraging co-investigation in research, co-advisement of students, co-location of staff, and joint publication.

Proposals may be submitted for full projects (12 months in duration supporting one graduate student and one postdoc) or assessments (three to six months in duration that explore new research areas). Faculty may have more than one project but are limited to one summer month. No equipment funds are available.

A short, one to two page proposal is due by Nov. 15. Contact Crystal Newton at 831-1017, or by e-mail at [newton@ccm.udel.edu] for more information and proposal guidelines.
