Casho Mill Road closed for tunnel painting

Aug. 1, 2002--The Delaware Department of Transportation advises motorists and area residents that Casho Mill Road will be closed between Julie Lane and Thorn Lane to allow DelDOT maintenance crews to repaint the stone structure which carries the B & O railroad over the Casho Mill Tunnel.

The closure will begin on Friday, Aug. 2, and will continue through Sunday, Aug. 4.

Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour route, which takes motorists from Thorn Lane to Route 2/Elkton Road to Apple Road to Barksdale Road and then back to Casho Mill Road.

Also, DelDot has announced that intermittent lane restrictions will be needed on the northbound shoulder of Old Baltimore Pike between Route 896 and Old Cooch's Bridge Road. Between the hours of 8 a.m.-3 p.m., maintenance crews will place concrete pavers on the side of the roadway. The pavers are being put in place to prevent motorists from driving onto the shoulder causing ruts and damage to their vehicles. The work began earlier this week and will be completed within two weeks, weather permitting.

For more traffic information, please log on to DelDOT's web site at www.deldot.net, or tune into WTMC-AM, 1380..
