3:45 p.m., Oct. 22, 2002--Barbecuing is back as part of tailgating activities at University of Delaware home football games beginning with the Saturday, Oct. 26, game against New Hampshire.
The ban was originally issued on Aug. 22 because the drought caused dry conditions around Delaware Stadium.
The decision to rescind the ban, which has been in effect at UD games since Aug. 22, follows the lifting of mandatory water-use restrictions by Delaware Gov. Ruth Ann Minner on Oct. 11, at the recommendation of the governors Drought Advisory Committee.
The end of the ban means gas and charcoal grills can again be used in all parking areas around Delaware Stadium and the athletic complex.
