| The University has entered into an agreement with Barnes & Noble College Bookstores Inc. to take over management of its bookstore operations, effective July 1.
Our review advisory committee of faculty, students and staff was unanimous in its recommendation of Barnes & Noble College Bookstores Inc., Barbara Kreppel, associate vice president of administrative services, said. I announced the upcoming change to University Bookstore staff, and their response and comments have been enthusiastic and welcoming.
Barnes & Noble representatives will be on campus next week to being negotiating the final details of the agreement, developing a transition schedule, planning to staff buyback beginning on May 13 and coordinating a seamless transition with Follett Higher Education Group, she said.
Bookstore operations at UDwhich include the University Bookstore in the Perkins Student Center, the Campus Shop in the Trabant University Center and concession stands at Delaware Stadium and the Bob Carpenter Centerhave been managed by the Follett Higher Education Group since 1996.
Under the terms of the agreement, current bookstore employees who are on the UD payroll will have the option to remain as University employees.
Barnes & Noble College Bookstores Inc.a sister company to the nations largest bookseller, Barnes & Noble Inc.operates nearly 500 campus bookstores across the nation, selling textbooks, trade books, school supplies, collegiate clothing and other merchandise.
