June 20, 2002—Mary Karen Anderson, an editor in charge of broadcast news in UD’s Office of Public Relations from 1987-90, died June 12, 2002. Ms. Anderson left UD to become director of news and communications at West Chester University, where she was named director of public relations and marketing in 1994.

A native of Albany, N.Y., she earned an associate’s degree from Hudson Valley Community College and a bachelor’s degree in communication from the State University of New York in Plattsburgh. She was a journalism intern at the United Nations for two semesters.

A memorial service for Ms. Anderson will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 14, in the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall in Philips Memorial Building, located at the corner of South High Street and University Avenue on the West Chester University campus.
