Alumni tours of Ireland and U.S. national parks set for June 2003

2:25 p.m., Nov. 22, 2002--The UD Alumni Association has planned two June getaways for alumni and friends—Shades of Ireland, a 10-day trip, departing June 6, and America’s Magnificent National Parks, a 15-day trip visiting seven national parks, departing June 9.

Shades of Ireland includes airfare from selected East Coast cities, lodging, tours, transportation, cancellation waiver and insurance and 15 meals.

Highlights include a stay in Limerick with a medieval banquet, a trip to the Cliffs of Moher and Galway, a farm visit, an Irish jaunting car ride along the lakes of Killarney and a tour of Muckross house and gardens.

From Killarney, the tour continues with a drive along the Ring of Kerry, evening entertainment at a pub, Blarney Castle and the Blarney stone. Continuing on to Waterford, a visit to the Waterford Crystal Factory is planned, followed by a castle stay in Kilkenny and a two-night stay in Dublin, including a tour of the city, a dinner and Irish entertainment before departing for home.

The cost is $2,659 per person sharing a room, and $3,059 for singles.

America’s Magnificent National Parks includes 14 nights’ lodging (seven at national park lodges), all-inclusive sightseeing and transportation, 27 meals and the availability of low-cost airfare.

The trip begins in Bozeman, Mont., with a two-night stay in Yellowstone Park, followed by a visit to the Grand Tetons and a chuck wagon dinner and cowboy show at Jackson Hole.

The next stop is a visit to Salt Lake City before heading for Moab, with a float trip along the Colorado River. From there, the trip continues to Arches National Park, followed by Monument Valley with a Navajo guide.

After a two-night stay at the Grand Canyon, the tour continues to Lake Powell, and Bryce Canyon and an evening at a Western rodeo. From there, the tour goes to Red Rock Canyon and Zion National Park, before ending in Las Vegas with a farewell dinner and show. Optional extensions of one to three days in Las Vegas are available.

The cost of $2,699 per person based on double occupancy (with a single supplement of $775) includes a guaranteed full-value travel protection program in case of cancellations.

The trip has been organized by Vantage Deluxe World Travel.
