Academy of Lifelong Learning open house Jan. 8

11:05 a.m., Jan. 7, 2002--Adults age 50 and over who enjoy new ideas, new friends and new experiences are invited to attend an open house from 9 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the University of Delaware’s Academy of Lifelong Learning. The event will be held at Arsht Hall, the academy’s home, located on UD’s Wilmington Campus, 2700 Pennsylvania Ave. Brief tours of the facilities, information on spring classes and light refreshments will be offered.

The Academy of Lifelong Learning is a membership organization that provides opportunities for adults 50 and over to learn, teach and travel with their peers. The only requirements for admission are an interest in a continuing educational experience, support of the programs through participation and the membership fee. Courses meet weekdays at Arsht Hall.

Beginning Feb. 10, more than 200 courses taught by academy members will be offered for the spring semester. Topics will include computers, current events, science, economics, history, literature, languages, music and yoga. Special lectures, musical programs, study trips and social events also are planned by and for members. Membership for the semester is $160, which covers up to five classes and many activities.

The Academy of Lifelong Learning will accept in-person and mailed registrations on weekdays through Friday, Jan. 10. Arsht Hall office is open from 9 a.m.–noon. For more information, call 573-4417 or visit [www.continuingstudies.udel.edu/academy/home/].
