Hen women top JMU

The University of Delaware women’s basketball team edged past James Madison 59-55 in a Colonial Athletic Association contest Sunday, raising its record to 21-5, 14-3 in conference.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens were led by junior guard Allison Trapp, who scored 18 points. Twelve of those points came in the second half, as UD mounted a comeback victory.

Megan Dellegrotti and Christina Rible added 14 points each.

UD’s final regular season game will be at Hofstra on Friday, March 1. Head coach Tina Martin, in her sixth season at Delaware, will be seeking her 100th career victory in that game.

The CAA women’s basketball tournament will be held March 6-9 in Norfolk, Va. Delaware is the No. 2 seed, behind host Old Dominion.
