Short-term night closing of I-95 north set Dec. 12

1:30 p.m., Dec. 11, 2002--The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has announced that I-95 northbound will be closed at Route 896 for a short period on Thursday evening, Dec. 12.

The right two lanes will close at 10 p.m. to allow for the set up of equipment that will be used to replace the overhead variable message board at that location. The new overhead message board will permit DelDOT to display text messages warning motorists of traffic-related incidents or conditions in the area.

At midnight, all lanes of I-95 northbound in this location will close and traffic will be diverted off the interstate at the Route 896 northbound off ramp to allow for actual placement of the message board. This should take approximately a half hour. Once the sign is in place, the left lane will reopened to traffic, but the two right lanes will continue to be closed until the work is completed at approximately 5 a.m., Friday, Dec. 13.

For more information, go to DelDOT’s web site at [www.deldot.net], or tune into WTMC-AM, 1380.
