Campus beautification projects over the course of the last decade have not gone unnoticed. According to University of Delaware admissions officers and athletics recruiters, the campus is a wonderful tool to sell the school to prospective students and student athletes.
University President David P. Roselle received this unsolicited testimonial from John Hippley, a high school teacher in Alliance, Ohio. He wrote:
"I am a high school horticulture instructor at a small school in northeast Ohio. I am also an avid traveler in the summertime. This past summer, I had the pleasure to visit your campus for the first time. (One of my favorite travel pastimes is to visit college campuses.) I was extremely impressed with your University. The grounds are awesome. I have visited literally hundreds of Division I school campuses and I have yet to find one that matches the UD! Wow!!! All those brick walks. The ornamental grasses are great! Your athletic facilities are perfect. What a baseball field!
"I am also a basketball coach at our school and have an appreciation for athletics. How easy it should be to recruit athletes when they see your sports facilities. Everything is so well-kept.
"Thank you to you and your University for allowing my visit to the state of Delaware to be a memorable one. Go, Blue Hens!"
