Because I imagined it, I could fly!

"I love coming back to Delaware to visit my family. We always end up taking a stroll down Newark's Main Street, finding ourselves on the beautiful main lawn of the University. This campus holds many great memories for me. It was here that I learned the skills that have served me well in my career. I am proud to be a graduate of such a wonderful institution as the University of Delaware."

--Susan Stroman, AS '76

A multiple Tony Award-winner, Susan Stroman directed and choreographed three plays currently on Broadway--The Producers, Music Man and Contact--with Thou Shalt Not opening in the fall. A theatre major whose choreography has been seen on PBS and the BBC and in the New York City Opera and Radio City Music Hall, Stroman also co-authored Contact, and her successful musical Crazy for You traveled from New York to London, Canada, Tokyo and Australia. In winter of 1992, Stroman assured UD's graduating class that success demands courage, preparation and imagination. "There is great truth in imagination," she said. "I imagined I could fly, and you could fly, too!"
