The black-faced spoonbill, one of the most endangered birds alive today, is in danger of extinction if the government of Taiwan approves the construction of a 7,000-acre petrochemical, oil refinery, steel mill complex on Chi-gu Lagoon. A group of U.S. ecologists has joined legislators, industrialists, academics and ecologists in Taiwan to fight to save the spoonbill.
