WVUD to be simulcast on Comcast

University of Delaware radio station 91.3FM WVUD and Comcast of New Castle County have agreed to terms which will allow programming from WVUD to be simultaneously broadcast on Comcast cable channel 66.

Comcast cable channel 66 is a leased access channel. WVUD programming will be simulcast for about 18 hours per day, beginning Aug. 30, so that residents can listen to the Delaware-Rhode Island football broadcast. The contract runs through the end of May 2002.

"This agreement gives WVUD a stronger voice in the greater Wilmington area, since our signal dies out in north Wilmington. Now those residents will be able to listen to WVUD's jazz, blue grass and classical music that they cannot listen to anywhere else," sports director Rob Gregory said. "Plus, Delaware alumni will be able to listen to a broad variety of sports that only WVUD covers."

Earlier this summer, WVUD Sports and Comcast of New Castle County reached an underwriting agreement that will make Comcast of New Castle County a title sponsor of WVUD Sports programming.

Radio station 91.3FM WVUD, the "voice of the University of Delaware," broadcasts a power of 1,000 watts. It is a student and community member station that also broadcasts via the Internet at [www.wvud.org].
