Honored for excellence

Katherine Lee of Newark, Del., and Larry Boehm of Elsmere, Del., were recipients of this year's Emalea P. Warner and Alexander J. Taylor awards. The awards are presented annually to a senior male and female student who are selected for their academic excellence and for their leadership and active involvement in the community and campus life. A family community services major, Lee was on the Dean's List every semester and is a member of the Golden Key, Kappa Omicron Nu and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies. She is a volunteer at Emmaus House, Girls Inc., Lifelines Penpal and Delawareans United to Prevent Child Abuse. Lee was recently elected to the University's Board of Trustees. Boehm, an English and communication major, was an undergraduate teaching assistant in the Department of Communication and created a weekly comic strip entitled "Larry's World" for The Review. Boehm also is a freelance writer for Delaware State News and has been involved in volunteer work for the YWCA. Each recipient received a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond, and their names will be engraved on plaques that stand near the Alumni Room in the Perkins Student Center and in Alumni Hall. *
