James C. Kakavas, the University's oldest living dean and professor emeritus, celebrates the successful completion of his scholarship campaign for the medical technology department. More than $100,000 was raised for the James C. and Theresa Kakavas Scholarship Endowment in the six-month campaign. During his 35-year career (1929-64) at the University, Kakavas was instrumental in establishing the medical technology program, the colleges of Nursing and Marine Studies and the University of Delaware Research Foundation (UDRF), which provides seed money for young scientists.
