University of Delaware Office of Public Relations The Messenger Vol. 5, No. 1/1995 Stephen Grimble named UD vice president and treasurer Stephen M. Grimble, who had an international career as a senior finance executive with the DuPont Co., is the new vice president and treasurer at the University of Delaware. Grimble, Delaware '66, joined the University administration July 17, replacing J. Robert R. Harrison, who retired after serving as treasurer since 1973. Working with the Board of Trustees and the president, the treasurer supervises all financial operations of the University, which has an annual budget of $390 million and an endowment valued at more than $460 million. Grimble earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University, graduating first in his accounting class. At the DuPont Co. from 1966-93, he held various financial staff and management positions. As director of finance for DuPont Chemicals from 1992-93, he was the chief financial officer for four global business groups with total annual sales of more than $3.5 billion. Currently co-chairperson of the Finance Subcommittee of Delaware's Education Improvement Commission, he also serves on the Board of Directors of Community Housing Inc. and the Board of Visitors of Valley Forge Military Academy and College. In 1989- 90, he served on the University's Accounting Advisory Board. A captain in the U.S. Air Force, he served in Vietnam from 1969-70 and was awarded the Bronze Star and Air Force commendation medals. Grimble and his wife, Eliete, live in Wilmington, Del.
