Why Delaware?

Edgar Johnson, Delaware '67, '70M, has been part of the Blue Hen
athletics scene since 1965 when he was a member of the UD swim team.
Immediately after graduation, he joined the coaching staff as
assistant men's swimming coach under Harry Rawstrom. In 1971, he
became head coach of the men's cross-country team, compiling a 70-44
record through 1979. Named head women's swimming coach, he fashioned a
58-4 dual record, taking over from Rawstrom in 1981 as director of
aquatics. Three years later, he was named director of athletics,
overseeing the University's 22-sport intercollegiate athletics
program.
