Alumni, staff and University friends are encouraged to submit nominations for the Outstanding Alumni Awards, the Alumni Wall of Fame and the Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement, as well as for the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Letters should include the name, address and daytime phone number of the nominator and must be received by Dec. 1 for the awards nominations and Nov. 1 for the Alumni Board. Outstanding Alumni Awards are presented annually to alumni in recognition of exceptional volunteer work on behalf of the University of Delaware and/or the Alumni Association. Nomination letters should cite examples of an individual's volunteer contributions. Current University of Delaware employees and trustees and current officers or directors of the Alumni Association are not eligible. The Alumni Wall of Fame, housed in the Perkins Student Center, recognizes outstanding professional achievements. Nominees must be University of Delaware alumni (defined as completing at least 30 credit hours) who hold (or held) senior leadership positions in corporations or other institutions, have made significant contributions to further their professions and have been honored for excellence and service through professional/civic awards and commendations. Nomination letters should cite specific examples. Newspaper/magazine clippings about the nominee are welcome. Current University of Delaware employees are not eligible. The Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement honors graduates of the last 20 years who exhibit great promise in their professional or public service activities. The nominee should be making significant contributions demonstrated through tangible results, innovations, promotions and company or community recognition. Members of the Classes of 1973 through 1992 are eligible for 1993 citations. The nomination letter should cite the nominee's professional contributions through specific examples. Newspaper/magazine clippings about the nominee are welcome. Current University of Delaware employees are not eligible. The Alumni Association Nominating Committee welcomes suggestions to fill six positions on the Board of Directors. Three men and three women are chosen annually to serve three-year terms. The nominee should have prior volunteer board experience and a sincere interest in serving on the Board of Directors and one of its working committees (advancement, awards, career planning, chapter/corporate outreach, nominating and student outreach). The nomination letter should include a summary of the individual's volunteer experience and reasons why he/she should be considered for the Alumni Board.
