Football season opens Aug. 30

The Fightin’ Blue Hens, expected to feature a stout defense but rebuilding along the offensive line and at quarterback, will open the 2008 football season at the University of Maryland on Aug. 30.

After tackling the Atlantic Coast Conference team, the Blue Hens will return home to face West Chester University on Sept. 13. Other homes games are against Albany on Sept. 27, Maine on Oct. 11, William and Mary on Oct. 18 (Homecoming), Towson on Nov. 8 and Villanova on Nov. 22.

Road games are at Furman on Sept. 20, Massachusetts on Oct. 4, Hofstra on Oct. 25, James Madison on Nov. 1 and Richmond on Nov. 15.
