Make plans for Homecoming 2007
This year’s Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 12-13, will hold a full slate of activities, including an expanded location for the popular Reunion Row.
The reunion tents, which feature gatherings of specialized groups of alumni, focus on everything from academic interests to varsity athletics to extracurricular activities. The 2007 Reunion Row will be a hub of activity beginning about 10 a.m. on Oct. 13 and continuing until the football game kicks off at noon.
This year, the tents move to a more spacious location on the opposite side of Delaware Stadium and will feature live music, entertainment for kids and families and much more. At the same time, numerous informal get-togethers will occur as alumni, friends and family tailgate before the game.
Special reunion events will be held for the Classes of 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1977, 1980, 1987 and 1992. One gathering that traditionally draws big crowds—and is expected to do the same this year—is for members of the University’s spirit groups, which include Alumni Marching Band members, cheerleaders, dance team members, mascots, Blue Hen Ambassadors, Spirit Ambassadors and Ag Ambassadors.
Other popular reunion groups that will again have receptions on Reunion Row this year include the Black Alumni Organization, former members of the UD baseball and swimming and diving teams and alumni of the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy.
During halftime at the football contest between Northeastern University and the Fightin’ Blue Hens, fans can see a special performance by the Alumni Marching Band and the presentation of Outstanding Alumni Awards.
Other events during the weekend include ice hockey, soccer and field hockey games and public skating sessions at the Fred Rust Ice Arena. Activities on Oct. 12 will include the presentation of the Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement Awards in the Roselle Center for the Arts and the presentation of the Lerner College of Business and Economics’ annual Alumni Awards of Excellence in Lerner Hall.
