Alumni Association issues call for nominations

The UD Alumni Association is requesting nominations for membership on its Board of Directors, as well as for recipients of two awards—the 2007 Alumni Wall of Fame and the 2007 Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement.

The association’s Board of Directors consists of three officers, 18 directors, satellite associate representatives and the immediate past president. Three men and three women are selected annually to serve three-year terms, which begin July 1.

All UD alumni are considered members of the association and are eligible to serve on the board. The deadline for nominations is Jan. 20, 2007.

The Alumni Wall of Fame recognizes outstanding professional and public service achievements by UD graduates. Located in the Alumni Lounge of the Perkins Student Center, the Wall of Fame was established in 1984. Recipients generally are inducted during a ceremony in May.

To be considered, nominees should hold or have held a senior leadership position within a corporation or other institution, made a significant contribution to further their profession and have been honored for excellence and service through professional or civic awards and commendations, have maintained a relationship with the University and be involved in their community.

Anyone making a Wall of Fame nomination should send supporting documentation, such as newspaper and magazine articles and press releases, if available. Individuals not selected the first year of nomination are automatically reconsidered the following year.

The Presidential Citation, awarded each year during Homecoming weekend (See article on page 63.), honors UD graduates of the last 20 years who exhibit great promise in their professional careers and/or public service activities. Nominees should be making significant contributions as demonstrated through tangible results, innovations, promotions and company or community recognition.
