Connections to the Colleges

Varied activities welcome alumni home

In addition to the Buenos Aires: A Tale of Two Cities exhibition and reception that drew visitors to campus during Homecoming weekend in October, the College of Arts and Sciences offered a variety of other special events and activities for alumni, students and the community.

On Saturday, Oct. 18, the College launched its Alumni College as a supplement to the day's traditional tailgate and football activities. The program featured an eclectic series of classes offered by seven prominent members of the College faculty:

The Alumni College classes were followed by a dean's reception and an evening jazz concert by the Department of Music's UD Faculty Jazz and the Jazz Ensemble I.

The College kicked off its weekend activities the previous evening, with an Art Loop that made stops at the Inuit Art and Culture exhibition in Old College and at various campus studios, where art department faculty and students offered displays and demonstrations. Friday evening also featured a cabaret-style performance of poetry and music, Poetry Into Jazz, showcasing the work of poet Marilyn Nelson, professor of English.
