First providing non-emergency transport in a bare-bones Ford Econoline van, University student volunteers since 1976 have operated a campus ambulance service. Today, they operate with a new Horton 364 Type III ambulance, built from scratch to the student organization's specifications. On Sept. 29, approximately 80 past and present members of the University of Delaware Emergency Care Unit (UDECU) gathered at Clayton Hall to reminisce and admire the new wheels. Shown with the first fully specified ambulance are, from left, Jack Lynn of UD Public Safety, adviser; Kevin J. O'Neill, AS '79, organizer of the UDECU; and Dawn Wright, AS 2002, and Rick Bell, HNS 2002, student coordinators of the ambulance service. Alumni can find the UDECU at [http://copland.udel.edu/stu-org/udecu].
