The B&E Alumni Association honored three outstanding graduates of the College with its 2001 Alumni Awards of Excellence. The awards were presented during special ceremonies held Homecoming weekend in October. Recipients were:
- Robert Siegfried Jr., BE '81, president and chief executive officer of The Siegfried Group, a professional service partnership based in Wilmington, Del. Siegfried, who graduated from UD with a double major in accounting and economics, worked for Ernst & Young before establishing his own firm;
- Dennis Sheehy, AS '79, BE '84M, the East Region managing partner for Deloitte Consulting's e-business technology integration practice, which specializes in planning, designing and implementing business solutions. Sheehy received his bachelor's degree in music and then earned a master of business administration degree, both from UD. He is a member of the College's IT Advisory Council and the B&E Alumni Board of Directors; and
- Robert Christian, BE '73M, senior vice president and chief investment officer for Wilmington Trust Co., who earned his master's degree in economics. Christian has more than 24 years' experience in the financial and investment industry.
The Alumni Awards of Excellence, established in 1991, are presented annually to recognize alumni of the College who have exhibited excellence in their careers and personal accomplishments. Criteria for the award include career achievement, contributions to business and the community and a commitment to business ethics, to making a difference and to excellence, as exemplified by personal growth and continuous improvement.
