In tribute to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, students and staff of the Christiana Towers Residence Hall Complex re-created an American flag in lights across the west tower on Sunday, Oct. 7. Students in 45 rooms on nine floors put red and blue lights in their windows for the re-creation, which began at 9 p.m. and was watched by about 800 residents and other members of the campus community.
Plans are under way to sell copies of the lighting, shot by photographer Eric Crossan for the Office of Public Relations. Proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross.
The lighting also may be repeated as a memorial next Sept. 11. At that time, the east tower also may be lit.
Ann Marie Buschiazzo, complex coordinator, organized the event that was the brainchild of Jim Tweedy, complex assistant director.
