Corridor of courage

Whispers of Angels, an hour-long documentary on the Underground Railroad written and produced by Sharon K. Baker, AS '73, will be aired on national television during February, Black History month. According to Baker, who heads the film production company Teleduction, the documentary portrays the critical eastern line of the Underground Railroad--from Maryland through Delaware to Philadelphia and north. Actors Ed Asner and Blair Underwood portray scenes from the life of white Quaker abolitionist Thomas Garrett and William Still, a free black anti-slavery activist. Filmed largely in Wilmington, Whispers of Angels is based on first-person accounts in William Still's book, The Underground Railroad. Other UD alumni involved in the production include Julie Pfeifenroth, AS '93, program editor; Kate Frawley, AS 2001, and Sarah Tebbe, AS '99, production coordinators.
