
An outstanding woman and two outstanding men from the senior class were recognized by the University Alumni Association at Honors Day for demonstrating remarkable qualities of leadership, citizenship and character. Jillian M. Licata of Holtsville, N.Y., who majored in animal science with a concentration in pre-veterinary medicine and agricultural biotechnology, received the Emalea Pusey Warner Award. While maintaining a grade point average of 3.9, she took 11 honors courses, 17 laboratory courses and four graduate-level courses. Michael A. Pegues Jr. of Forestville, Md., center, and Daniel R. Dries of Gilbertsville, Pa., received the Alexander J. Taylor Award for outstanding senior man. Pegues, who is the University's all-time leading basketball scorer with 2,000 points, was a Dean's List student majoring in communication with a minor in Black American Studies. Dries, who maintained a 3.9 grade point average while majoring in biochemistry with a minor in Russian, is a Science and Engineering Research Scholar and a senior fellow in the University Honors Program and served as a Blue Hen Ambassador.
