Campaign Goals

Endowed Fellowships. Graduate students play an invaluable role in our research and outreach endeavors. They are the leaders of the future in science, education, and organizations in both the public and private sectors. Fellowships help our graduate students defray tuition and living expenses, freeing them to concentrate on their studies rather than pursuing other means of support. As a result, graduate fellowships are the most effective means of competing for the very best graduate scholars from around the world. With a Campaign gift of $50,000 or more, you can establish and name a graduate assistantship that will ensure future leaders receive the education they need to meet tomorrow’s challenges.
Minimum Campaign Goal: $1 million

Endowed Chairs and Professorships. The strength of the College is a reflection of our faculty. Through their research, our professors are a vital source of new knowledge. In the classroom and laboratory, they are an inspiration to students. Through their service to the community, they contribute to the welfare of our region and our nation. By establishing an endowed chair or professorship, you can help us recognize and retain outstanding faculty or recruit top scholars to our programs. Naming opportunities for faculty chairs require a minimum Campaign gift of $1 million. Named endowed professorships begin at $250,000.
Minimum Campaign Goal: $1 million

Endowment for Young Scholar-Teachers. The College’s continued vitality depends upon our ability to compete for the most talented young faculty. In the years to come, their efforts will propel the College to even higher standards of achievement. Endowed funds earmarked for the support of new faculty resources for start-up and summer research activity will enable us to recruit the kinds of teachers and researchers that are essential to the future of marine studies at the University of Delaware. The minimum level to name an endowment in this category is $100,000.
Minimum Campaign Goal: $500,000

Discovery-Based Learning Initiative. The College’s top educational priority is teaching our students to conduct independent inquiry. We strive to provide each student with the opportunity to conduct shipboard research at sea as well as land-based field and laboratory work. Internships with a variety of governmental and non-governmental organizations are also an important aspect of our marine policy program. And we are committed to preparing qualified undergraduates for graduate study through innovative undergraduate research programs. Through the Campaign, you can contribute to a fund that will support these student research, travel, and internship opportunities. Named endowment opportunities begin at $25,000.
Minimum Campaign Goal: $1.2 million

Facilities Support. As an academic unit with a significant research focus, the College of Marine Studies is an equipment-intensive enterprise. By making a Campaign gift for facilities support, you will help ensure that the College has the resources to pursue cutting-edge research, from an electron microscopy lab to a marine biotechnology research wing or research center. Naming opportunities are available with a gift of $100,000 or more.
Minimum Campaign Goal: $1 million

Dean’s Fund for Academic Excellence and Innovation. Expanded annual and unrestricted support for our programs is a key component of the Campaign. This type of support will enhance the diversity of our academic programs by supporting scholar-in-residence programs, including a proposed program for visiting minority faculty. It also enables the College to respond quickly and effectively to new faculty, student, or industry initiatives and to move in exciting new directions as opportunities arise. Named endowment opportunities begin at $25,000.
