Positioning the Library for the Challenges Ahead
No university can aspire to greatness without a great library. And no library can maintain a position of greatness without the resources so essential to its future. A great library must build the financial strength required to provide optimum library services in an electronic age.
That is why the Library is an important part of the Campaign for Delaware. To position the Library for the challenges ahead, we have set a target of raising a minimum of $12 million in resource endowments through the Campaign. The idea behind Library endowments is straightforward. Endowments provide a permanent source of income support for the Library’s future.
Each gift used to create a resource endowment is placed in a permanent, named fund. Every year, a portion of the fund’s investment earnings is used to help purchase books and journals and to increase electronic resources. The remainder of the earnings is reinvested in the principal as a protection against inflation and as a tool for growth.
You are invited to consider establishing an endowment for the University of Delaware Library. No matter what form your support takes, your investment will help ensure that the University of Delaware Library remains the intellectual pillar of a great university.
