Today, we are witnessing a revolution that is reshaping our nation’s health priorities. While we have made great technological advances in treating disease, we have also learned that some of the most significant threats to our health—including heart disease, cancer, and diabetes—are ultimately rooted in the lifestyle choices we make every day.
This realization is forcing into sharp focus the need to rethink our approach to health education. More and more emphasis is being placed on preventing disease by promoting wellness of mind, body, and spirit. At the College of Health and Nursing Sciences, we embrace this challenge wholeheartedly. The Campaign for Delaware will help us meet the challenge in the following concrete ways:
- by providing scholarships and fellowships for talented students,
- by attracting and recognizing outstanding faculty,
- by promoting discovery-based learning opportunities for students,
- by enhancing laboratory and educational technologies, and
- by supporting innovative education, research, and outreach initiatives.
