For many of us, the changing seasons are marked by more than just the color of the leaves or the height of the mercury in our thermometers. The onset of fall brings to mind the excitement of college football and field hockey games and alumni pouring onto campus for Homecoming. The cold winter months suggest the thrill of fast breaks and jump shots, while the crack of the bat across baseball and softball diamonds signals spring as much as the budding leaves.
These are vivid images. But images of young men and women giving their all in competition are only part of the intercollegiate athletics experience here at the University of Delaware. In fact, you're just as likely to find our student-athletes burning the midnight oil preparing for final exams or scouring the library for research material as you are to find them at practice.
That dual commitment to excellence on the playing field and in the classroom is something that shapes and defines us. From the gridiron and the volleyball court to the swimming pool and the soccer field, the University’s athletics teams have set a remarkable standard. As we look toward the future, our goal is to complement that rich legacy of success with new winning traditions. The Campaign for Delaware represents an important part of that goal.
In fact, your Campaign commitment is a way for you to play a role in shaping Delaware’s athletics future. Through the Campaign, we are striving to secure at least $7.5 million to bolster the range of scholarship opportunities, facilities, and services available for the University’s student-athletes. By endowing a scholarship in any one of our 23 sports, you can help ensure that the Blue Hens remain at the forefront of intercollegiate athletics competition for years to come. Other contributions to our programs will be used to provide top-notch training facilities, equipment, and academic support services
