John A. Krol
John A. (Jack) Krol is the former chairman of the board of DuPont Company and a member of the board's Strategic Direction and Environmental Policy committees. Mr. Krol joined DuPont in 1963 as a chemist in Wilmington, DE. Between 1965 and 1986, he held various marketing, manufacturing and business management positions in DuPont Fibers until being named vice president in 1983. In 1986, he joined DuPont Agricultural Products and served as senior vice president until being named senior vice president of DuPont fibers in 1990. In March 1992, Mr. Krol was elected vice chairman. He became president on Oct. 1, 1995, and chief executive officer on Dec. 1, 1995. He became chairman and CEO in 1997. He retired as CEO early in 1998 and remains chairman of the board. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry from Tufts University. Mr. Krol is a member of the boards of directors of Delaware Art museum and Tufts University, and a member of the corporate liaison board of the American chemical Society. He is a trustee of Hagley Museum and the U.S. Council of International Business. Mr. Krol is a former member of the Business and Economics Visiting Committee of the University of Delaware, and presently serves on the Finance and Compensation Committees.
