University of Delaware Winter Commencement 2002

The Winter Commencement 2002 ceremony, scheduled at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, in the Bob Carpenter Sports/Convocation Center, will be broadcast live over the World Wide Web so that family and friends who are unable to come to the campus will be able to view it.

Speaking at Commencement will be noted historian Jacqueline Jones, a 1970 graduate of UD and currently the Truman Professor of History and chairperson of the history department at Brandeis University. An award-winning scholar in the fields of African-American history, southern history, labor history and women’s history, she is the author of several books and the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship.

Also at the ceremony, Foster and Lynn Friess, who established the Life Enrichment Foundation, will receive UD’s Medals of Distinction.
