The CSW's Visiting Women Scholars Award Program
The Commission on the Status of Women is pleased to announce that matching funds are available for the 2007-2008 fiscal year to fund honoraria and travel for visiting women scholars.
This program, established in 1981, is designed to assist departments in bringing women scholars to campus. Preference is given to departments with small numbers of women on the faculty. Each application will be evaluated when it is received.
The following criteria are used in allocating funds:
- Awards granted in 2007-2008 will not exceed the total budgeted for the VWS Award Program.
- The fund is divided into two periods: July 1 to December 31, and January 1 to June 30. Departments may request up to $250 per speaker, $300 per period, and $600 per year.
- VWS funds must be matched or exceeded by the department and/or other external funding.
- Requests must be made in advance by returning the enclosed form to the Office of Women's Affairs, 305 Hullihen Hall. Funding is never allocated retroactively.
- Departments are requested to inform the Office of Women's Affairs if a visiting woman scholar cancels so that funds can be reallocated.
- The program must be open and advertised to the UD community, and the VWS support must be acknowledged.
