Commission on the Status of Women
OWA provides administrative support to the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). The Commission is a group of faculty and staff who serve as an advisory to the University President regarding equity concerns of women faculty, staff, and students at the university. The CSW is charged with making an annual report to the President and to make recommendations for changes in policies, programs, procedures, and employment practices to achieve equity for women. The CSW programs, supported and administrated by OWA, address gender issues, award and recognize women's accomplishments and men who work to promote women's issues, and has been a catalyst for change on campus.
For the past 30 years, the CSW annual report to the President has made recommendations for change in many areas including salary equity, sexual assault and harassment, work/family concerns, career development, employee classification, and increasing the number of women in leadership positions. Annual reports for the past 10 years may be viewed on the CSW website (www.udel.edu/CSW). There is still more work to be done to continue to address issues including sexual harassment, subtle sex discrimination and biases, issues for minority women, violence and safety, and representation of women at all levels of the University. Input is always welcome from those who have a commitment to equity for women at the University by contacting a CSW member or through the Office of Women's Affairs.
